LAPIDARY–The art of cutting precious and semi-precious stones and turning them into fine, beautiful jewellery.

As a member of our club you can discover more about this wonderful hobby and learn how to identify minerals, cut and polish stones and produce beautiful jewellery in our own workshops at a time that suits you.

Regular classes are held and, under the guidance of our experienced volunteer instructors, you can learn to cut gemstone cabochons, facet crystals and cut and polish opal.

You could also learn to work with silver and make jewellery, including setting stones that you have cut yourself.

You could try your hand at enamelling or gemstone carving, or maybe create a Gem Tree.

As you develop your skills you can have your work assessed by an accredited judge at club level and hopefully move on to compete in competitions at the interclub level, State level (Gemkhana) and national level (GEMBOREE®).

As a member you will also be able to participate in field trips, social events and our monthly meetings.

You can also subscribe to Pointer, the magazine of the Victorian Gem Clubs Association.
